Enable safe browsing in your web browser

Turn on phishing and malware protection in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge to warn you before you visit dangerous sites.

Why this matters

Many infections start with visiting a malicious or compromised website. Safe browsing warnings are your last line of defence before the browser loads harmful content.

How to do it

  1. Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Security → Enhanced protection
  2. Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Deceptive Content and Dangerous Software Protection — check all boxes
  3. Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Microsoft Defender SmartScreen — turn On
  4. Safari: Preferences → Security → Warn when visiting a fraudulent website
